At the gates of Aït Ben Haddou, on the heights of Tamdaght, Kasbah Ellouze looks out over the Ounila Valley and the Atlas Mountains. Here the gardens take their time to grow, the light changes with the hours, and travel finally slows down.
Our story
A house, a story
After some fifteen years exploring Morocco by 4L, 4x4 and truck, then showing it to their friends, Franck and Séverine chose not simply to keep coming back, but to stay. They fell for the Kasbah at first sight — it felt obvious: the ideal place to offer travellers the hospitality they themselves had come looking for over the years. Built some twenty years ago in the spirit of traditional architecture — local materials and regional craftsmanship — it sits in the Tamdaght landscape as if it had always been there.
The patio
The heart of the house
At the centre of the Kasbah lies the patio and its fountain in green Tamegroute pottery, made using an ancestral technique. Around it, palm trees reaching for the sky, a chequered floor and shaded benches. This is where the house breathes — a cool place to settle, to the sound of water, between two walks.
